|On behalf of the governors, welcome to the Beechwood Website.|
Please take a tour via the presentation and you will see why the children are so proud of their school.
You will find Beechwood School to be cheerful, optimistic and welcoming.
It is a school where the children learn in a safe and secure environment, where they feel respected and valued, where all staff are enthusiastic and committed and the leadership is dynamic and purposeful.
We have a strong belief that every child matters and each one is encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities offered to them both within the curriculum and in the wide range of sports and clubs available.
At Beechwood, children acquire much more than the principles, ideas and processes of a subject. It is a formative world where the children develop their social skills, learn to get along with each other and make new friends.
The school is located at the centre of Woodley and has good parking facilities in close proximity to it. There is a large sports field bordered by trees, a reflective garden and two separate playgrounds.
The school itself is over fifty years old but the buildings and facilities are in excellent condition thanks to the work of staff and parents who volunteer their skills and time on a regular basis.
There has also been much investment in the school.
There have been adaptations in recent years to provide an extra classroom, a new roof with solar panels, energy saving lighting, kitchen improvements and gas fired heating.
Wokingham Borough Council has now approved an expansion of the school and this enables us to admit 60 children each September. This will not only help us organisationally and financially but will provide some of the extra places which are needed in Woodley as a result of the new housing developments.
The associated building project will include four new classrooms, a library, improved facilities for staff and the storage of resources as well as changing facilities for the children.
The governors, staff and children are proud of Beechwood School and its achievements and we invite you to make an appointment to view the buildings and grounds when you will see for yourself why we believe in “Always doing something good” which is the school’s motto.
