PTA Childrens Christmas Party

Dear all,

Due to disappointing ticket sales for our Christmas Party we are going to cancel the second session.

However, to maximise everyone’s fun that has purchased a ticket, we are extending the first session by 30 minutes. Therefore, the party will now start at 6:30pm and finish at 8:00pm.

If you are one of the few that bought a ticket for the second party and you’re happy to attend the first party, then you don’t have to do anything. Just turn up in your best party clothes at 6:30pm.

If you can’t attend the first party, please ask for a refund from the office if you paid cash or email if you paid online.

Tickets are still available to buy until this Friday so make sure you don’t miss out on a great night.

P.S. We still need a few more volunteers for the night so please let us know if you can help.

PTA Christmas Prep Evening

Christmas Party Prep Evening

Due to the low ticket sales for the Christmas Party we have decided to postpone the prep evening until Tuesday 10th December (at school at 7pm).

There is a risk that we might have to cancel the party, so we don’t want to spend time and waste money making up all of the goodies for the party.

Thanks for your understanding and don’t forget to buy your Christmas Party tickets!

At the end of the day, it is just a disco. If you just want to send your child, great. If you want to come as a family, that’s great too.

PTA Bouncing BBQ – Dress Down Day Friday

The Bouncing BBQ is going ahead!

Thank you to everyone that has volunteered and supported this event.

Despite the volunteers that have come forward, we don’t have enough to run the event for the whole 3 hours so we will be finishing at 5pm.

This might possibly be the last summer fair we do at Beechwood, for this current PTA committee anyway, as it is just getting too hard to recruit the volunteers we need even from a parent community the size that we are.

So, lets make this fair the best one yet! We have a mixture of free activities and pay to play games to keep everyone entertained including…

Play your cards right, Coconut shy, Hook a duck, Human Fruit Machine, Mocktail bar, Raffle, Welly wanging, Tattoos, Hair chalk, Inflatable obstacle course, Ice cream, Food, Drink and Music.

To make this event as inclusive as possible, it will be an alcohol free zone. A bar will be set up serving non alcohol cocktails.

We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Don’t forget it’s dress down day on Friday in exchange for a coloured item for our hampers. Poster attached as a reminder.

Thanks as always.

Bouncing BBQ – Wednesday 17th July

Our Bouncing BBQ is happening on Wednesday 17th July straight after the KS1 Sports Day and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for good weather. We need lots of volunteers to help with set up and the running of the stalls. If you can spare an hour or two please sign up online at PTA Events, on our Facebook page, via email to or by popping into the office and using the sign up sheet.

DRESS DOWN DAY – Friday 12th July

In exchange for a dress down day, we are asking each pupil to bring in at least one donation for their class coloured hamper. Each of the 13 hampers will be up for grabs at the Bouncing BBQ for as little as 50p! Donations can be food, drink, smellies, games, toys, etc – be as creative as you like but make sure your donation is in the colour that has been assigned to your class.

PTA AGM – Thursday 18th July

PTA AGM – Thursday 18th July

We would like to invite you to attend our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 18th July at 7pm at Bosco Lounge in Woodley.
This will be your chance to help us to celebrate all that we have achieved this year and to start thinking of ideas for next year.

We will also be electing a New Vice Chair and Secretary. If you are interested in taking on either of these roles, you will need to attend the meeting to allow you to be formally voted in by the other committee members. Please find attached the job descriptions for both roles to help you understand what is involved and how valuable they are to the running of a successful PTA.

We won’t be running as many events next year as we did this year as the Chair of our PTA is returning to work (if that helps you with your decision making \uD83D\uDE09).
If you have any questions about the two roles that are available please get in touch.

Sponsored Bounce – Wednesday 19th June

Children will be set a challenge of bouncing as many times as they can in 1 minute on a bouncy castle on Wednesday 19th June. Children will work in pairs to bounce and count each other’s attempt.

A sponsorship form should have come home in book bags this week. Please use the sponsorship form to ask for donations from friends and family to help us purchase much needed resources and equipment for our school.

Volunteers – We need at least 6 adults to work in shifts to supervise the bouncy castles and ensure the event runs smoothly. Please let someone from the PTA know if you are able to help for a couple of hours during the day or email

Please place all sponsorship money in a clearly labelled envelope with the sponsor form and hand in on the day of the event to the school office.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sunflower Competition

This is a little competition we are running until the end of September.

For just £1, each pupil will receive some sunflower seeds, a container and instructions on how to grow the BIGGEST sunflower.

There are some great prizes up for grabs for the tallest sunflower that have been kindly donated by Wyevale Garden Centre in Winnersh.

Please order your pack through PTA events by 7th June.

Father’s Day Market brought to you by Beechwood PTA

Our Father’s Day Market is taking place on Wednesday 12th June during the school day. If you would like your child to take part, please book their place on our new online booking platform (link below).
Please ensure you add your children to the right class to enable us to create the timetable for the event and prevent any children being missed. Children will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of gifts to give to a significant person in their lives.
There is a limited number of booking forms in the school office but the PTA can take no responsibility for missing forms.

If you are able to help out at the event or set up on Tuesday 11th after school please let us know by emailing or sign up online when you make your booking.

PTA Events and Online Ticket Sales

PTA events and online ticket sales

We are pleased to confirm that Beechwood PTA is now able to sell tickets to events and activities online through a platform called PTA Events.

You will need to register hereand attach your child to their class. On the home page you will see a list of events and volunteering opportunities. There isn’t an app yet (they are working on it), but the platform is user friendly and we would recommend saving it as a tab/bookmark on your phone to make it easy to access our events.

Our aim is to help parents purchase tickets more easily, reduce the traffic in the school office and the pressure on the school staff when we have an upcoming event.

It will also help the PTA to produce registers for each event with just one click as opposed to a volunteer manually inputting all names into a spreadsheet. We can keep track of volunteers, ticket sales and potentially sell uniform in the future.

We would like all tickets to be sold online this term, however we do understand that there may be some parents who wish to continue to purchase their tickets from the office. Therefore, a limited number of tickets will be made available to facilitate this.

We hope you will support us in this new endeavour as we try and make it as easy as possible for parents to participate in our events and help us raise funds for the school.

We have worked hard to set this up behind the scenes and know it will be hugely beneficial for parents and the PTA.

The first three events available this term are:

  • Rock n’ Roll Bingo – 17 May 2019
  • Father’s Day Market – 12 June 2019
  • The Sunflower Competition – 13 June 2019.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the PTA.

Just in case the link breaks, here is the address register on PTA events;

Woodley Carnival Update

The PTA will still be going ahead with the Woodley Carnival this year, even if it is a walking float but, we cannot do it alone and are looking for parents/carers to join our team to make this the best float Beechwood has ever seen. As you can imagine we will need as many people as possible to help and in many different roles to make this a reality. we will be discussing this in more detail during our next meeting on 29th April, 7pm. If you are interested in helping out, please email the PTA on

Thankyou for your continued support.

Carnival Craft Club

Unfortunately myself and Emma will no longer being running Carnival Craft Club next term.

It wasn’t an easy decision especially as we have really enjoyed each week and have made great progress, however, due to negativity, lack of support and resources, a decision has been made to not continue.

It is just simply too much for 3 volunteers trying to supervise a classroom of children from all year groups in crafting activities, toilet breaks etc whilst keeping the classroom how it was found.

The children have done an excellent job so far making the decorations so well done to everyone who was involved.

If anyone would like to take the club over next term, please post on the PTA Facebook page or contact the PTA directly by emailing

German Club

Please find attached a flyer relating to a German club starting after Easter. At the moment we are just gauging numbers. If you would like your child to attend please contact the school office where you will be added to the list.
