Chinese New Year…

It has been a very exciting week in Foundation Stage. You may have noticed the new layout of the classrooms and we have taken delivery of a number of new resources such as the dough kitchen. A big thank you to all of those members of staff and governors who have given their time to transforming the classrooms.A special thank you to Mr Casey for all his hard work in the outside area.

The children have completed their golden book writing re – telling the story of Percy the Park Keeper’s Snowy Night which we have been reading as part of our Winter Theme. Chinese New Year is on Monday 8th February and we have been learning about the Chinese Zodiac. This year is the year of the Monkey. The children have been re-enacting the great race across the river in maths learning about positioning. In ICT the children created some wonderful firework pictures after watching clips of the Chinese New Year.

During independent learning the children have had the opportunity to attend our very own Chinese restaurant complete with ” noodles” and chopsticks. We have also seen some lovely models and pictures of dragons. The Chinese New Year theme will continue next week.
