Foundation Blog – 13 January 2017

The theme of Winter came alive in Foundation Stage this week. They have sung a winter song and discussed what happens in winter. The children enjoyed participating in many winter themed activities during their independent learning, which included making snowflakes, playing with snow (cloud dough), building igloos out of sugar cubes, designing winter clothes and identifying the initial sounds in winter words. The children were introduced to the concept that some animals hibernate during the winter.

This week’s Maths inputs focused on 2D shape and the children were enthusiastic when exploring shapes in the school environment, they have also made pictures using 2D shapes and tap tap.

One of this week’s highlights was seeing the children’s creative skills when designing pictures for our Little Red Hen display (which is now up in our FS cloakroom area) using the software 2Simple 2Publish.
