About Us
Beechwood Primary School was build in 1959 on a large open site and serves the Woodley community. Originally separate, the infant and junior schools were combined to form the new primary school in 1988. We now share the site with the Ambleside centre, which is convenient for parents with younger siblings. The school has received substantial investment in present times.
“Our staff is knowledgeable, committed and hard working. They, along with the governors, aim to do the very best for each child in the school, in order that they obtain the first class education that they deserve.”
Most children want to learn and we encourage this positive attitude from the child’s first day. By the time the child leaves us at the age of 11 they would have become a confident independent learner, who is aware of their own worth and responsibilities to both the school and the wider community.
We have arrangements for giving extra support to children with learning difficulties and also provide support and assistance to the very able. Both the infant and juniors are supported by teaching assistants, which offer an excellent adult to pupil ratio.
“We actively encourage parents and their children to visit the school and guarantee that you will not be disappointed.”
The school has recently been expanded with the addition of several new classrooms enabling the school to increase its capacity to a two form entry school.
The hall and dining room facilities are spacious, richly decorated in the schools colours and are the theatre of so much active learning.
Outside, the quiet reflective garden is a sanctuary for children to withdraw to at their playtime or to study wildlife and the environment as part of groups or a class. This is also part of a superb outdoor playing area comprising of two playgrounds and a large field, which is used for a variety of sports and leisure activities.
We believe in making the best use of our facilities, which we are very proud of and there is no doubt that they enhance the learning of our children.
