Bouncing BBQ – Wednesday 17th July

Our Bouncing BBQ is happening on Wednesday 17th July straight after the KS1 Sports Day and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for good weather. We need lots of volunteers to help with set up and the running of the stalls. If you can spare an hour or two please sign up online at PTA Events, on our Facebook page, via email to [email protected] or by popping into the office and using the sign up sheet.

DRESS DOWN DAY – Friday 12th July

In exchange for a dress down day, we are asking each pupil to bring in at least one donation for their class coloured hamper. Each of the 13 hampers will be up for grabs at the Bouncing BBQ for as little as 50p! Donations can be food, drink, smellies, games, toys, etc – be as creative as you like but make sure your donation is in the colour that has been assigned to your class.

PTA AGM – Thursday 18th July

PTA AGM – Thursday 18th July

We would like to invite you to attend our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 18th July at 7pm at Bosco Lounge in Woodley.
This will be your chance to help us to celebrate all that we have achieved this year and to start thinking of ideas for next year.

We will also be electing a New Vice Chair and Secretary. If you are interested in taking on either of these roles, you will need to attend the meeting to allow you to be formally voted in by the other committee members. Please find attached the job descriptions for both roles to help you understand what is involved and how valuable they are to the running of a successful PTA.

We won’t be running as many events next year as we did this year as the Chair of our PTA is returning to work (if that helps you with your decision making \uD83D\uDE09).
If you have any questions about the two roles that are available please get in touch.

Sponsored Bounce – Wednesday 19th June

Children will be set a challenge of bouncing as many times as they can in 1 minute on a bouncy castle on Wednesday 19th June. Children will work in pairs to bounce and count each other’s attempt.

A sponsorship form should have come home in book bags this week. Please use the sponsorship form to ask for donations from friends and family to help us purchase much needed resources and equipment for our school.

Volunteers – We need at least 6 adults to work in shifts to supervise the bouncy castles and ensure the event runs smoothly. Please let someone from the PTA know if you are able to help for a couple of hours during the day or email [email protected]

Please place all sponsorship money in a clearly labelled envelope with the sponsor form and hand in on the day of the event to the school office.

Thank you for your continued support.

Monitoring Visit Report – Ofsted

 Dear Parent/carers

Monitoring Visit Report – Ofsted

We are really pleased to share the result of the recent Ofsted section 8 visit to all parents/carers, please see the letter attached. Please read the report carefully, I am sure you will be pleased with the findings, in particular the statement below:

“Leaders and managers are taking effective actions towards the removal of the ‘serious weaknesses’ designation”.

As a school we are delighted with the outcome of the Ofsted inspection as it reflects the hard work, devotion and enthusiasm of a tremendous whole school team.

The IEB are really pleased with the direction the school is going. They would like to thank all staff for their contribution and parents for their support.

Please read the full report via the link below:

Ofsted Monitoring Vist Report – 17 May 2019

PTA Events and Online Ticket Sales

PTA events and online ticket sales

We are pleased to confirm that Beechwood PTA is now able to sell tickets to events and activities online through a platform called PTA Events.

You will need to register hereand attach your child to their class. On the home page you will see a list of events and volunteering opportunities. There isn’t an app yet (they are working on it), but the platform is user friendly and we would recommend saving it as a tab/bookmark on your phone to make it easy to access our events.

Our aim is to help parents purchase tickets more easily, reduce the traffic in the school office and the pressure on the school staff when we have an upcoming event.

It will also help the PTA to produce registers for each event with just one click as opposed to a volunteer manually inputting all names into a spreadsheet. We can keep track of volunteers, ticket sales and potentially sell uniform in the future.

We would like all tickets to be sold online this term, however we do understand that there may be some parents who wish to continue to purchase their tickets from the office. Therefore, a limited number of tickets will be made available to facilitate this.

We hope you will support us in this new endeavour as we try and make it as easy as possible for parents to participate in our events and help us raise funds for the school.

We have worked hard to set this up behind the scenes and know it will be hugely beneficial for parents and the PTA.

The first three events available this term are:

  • Rock n’ Roll Bingo – 17 May 2019
  • Father’s Day Market – 12 June 2019
  • The Sunflower Competition – 13 June 2019.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the PTA.

Just in case the link breaks, here is the address register on PTA events;

Ofsted HMI Inspector’s Visit

As many of you will be aware on Wednesday April 24th, the School received a Section 8 monitoring visit from an Ofsted HMI Inspector.

A visit was expected as part of the process from our last Ofsted report. We would like to thank you for your honest feedback to the Inspector via the Parent View and inform you that the Inspector was complimentary about all the pupils and staff that were spoken to.

As soon as we are able, we will publish the results of the visit to you all.

Thank you for your continued support in Beechwood.

Beechwood Primary IEB/Local Governing Body

Ofsted Section 8 Monitoring Inspection

We have today been advised that Ofsted will be visiting Beechwood for a monitoring visit tomorrow.

If you are a registered parent or carer of a pupil at the school (including pupils on sick leave or who are temporarily excluded), you can give Ofsted your views about the school by completing Ofsted’s online survey, Parent View, at: www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk.

Woodley Carnival Update

The PTA will still be going ahead with the Woodley Carnival this year, even if it is a walking float but, we cannot do it alone and are looking for parents/carers to join our team to make this the best float Beechwood has ever seen. As you can imagine we will need as many people as possible to help and in many different roles to make this a reality. we will be discussing this in more detail during our next meeting on 29th April, 7pm. If you are interested in helping out, please email the PTA on [email protected].

Thankyou for your continued support.

Carnival Craft Club

Unfortunately myself and Emma will no longer being running Carnival Craft Club next term.

It wasn’t an easy decision especially as we have really enjoyed each week and have made great progress, however, due to negativity, lack of support and resources, a decision has been made to not continue.

It is just simply too much for 3 volunteers trying to supervise a classroom of children from all year groups in crafting activities, toilet breaks etc whilst keeping the classroom how it was found.

The children have done an excellent job so far making the decorations so well done to everyone who was involved.

If anyone would like to take the club over next term, please post on the PTA Facebook page or contact the PTA directly by emailing [email protected].

German Club

Please find attached a flyer relating to a German club starting after Easter. At the moment we are just gauging numbers. If you would like your child to attend please contact the school office where you will be added to the list.
